I joined the Society in January 2023 after a friend invited me to an Art Society afternoon tea and talk on Scottish Art by Lachlan Goudie. Soon after I joined the Committee and became Chair in July 2024. I joined the Arts Society to get a better work/life balance and transition into retirement. I have really enjoyed meeting new friends and getting involved in the wide variety of art and cultural events on offer. My favourite lectures since joining have been "The Art of Quackery" (hearing all about the weird and inventive "cures" over the years) and "Cave Art" (our connections to the past through the amazing images and skills hidden therein). I am married and enjoy musical theatre and exploring Scotland with husband David and our Staffie. |

I have been a member for some years and joined the committee in 2014. Previously treasurer and Chair from 2020-24. I had a career of 35 years in computing before early retirement but have always loved visiting museums and art galleries although I have no artistic talents myself. "I know what I like" which is not always the same as others, so I love our varied programmes that allow me to get some insight into things I may have otherwise ignored. |
